Muslim Dawah
Initiative

“Think MSA, but for Dawah!”

Empowering Muslim students across America to present a united, confident, and compassionate front for dawah on college campuses.

Who We Are

Our Mission & Vision

Our Mission

To present a united front for dawah on college campuses by establishing a national network that empowers Muslim students to collaborate, grow, and serve together — igniting a national culture of dawah where Muslims across the U.S. feel inspired, supported, and equipped to invite others to Islam with wisdom and compassion.

Our Vision

A future where every university campus in the United States has an active, confident, and well-supported group of Muslim students engaged in dawah — rooted in knowledge, driven by sincerity, and creating a generation of Muslim leaders who normalize dawah as a core part of Muslim student identity.

Why Dawah?

“Dawah is a fard kifayah — a communal obligation. If no one steps up to fulfill it, the whole community bears the responsibility. Now more than ever, people need to hear the message of Islam in its pure, unadulterated form.”

“Everyone complains about the Ummah not being united, but few are willing to put in the work to make it happen.”

Structure

How MDI Works

A three-tiered structure designed to empower chapters at every level while maintaining a unified national vision.

01

The MDI HQ

National Umbrella Organization

Serves as a portal to all dawah minds and resources across the U.S. Provides access to experienced daee's and qualified scholars, facilitates national trainings (online and in-person), and supplies chapters with all necessary materials — Qurans, books, pamphlets, and more.

  • National training programs
  • Scholar access & Q&A support
  • Free dawah materials supply
  • Chapter onboarding & support
02

On-the-Ground Dawah

University Chapters

Each university has an MDI chapter operating with autonomy on their campus — running their own events, tabling sessions, and initiatives. They draw on the MDI umbrella for resources, guidance, and community when needed.

  • Campus tabling (at least weekly)
  • New Muslim mentorship programs
  • Social media dawah presence
  • Chapter events & collaborations
03

Resource Network

Third-Party Partner Orgs

The MDI pairs chapters with local non-profit Muslim organizations that provide dawah materials free of charge — enabling chapters to operate independently and sustainably without relying solely on the umbrella organization.

  • Local Quran distribution partners
  • Pamphlet & book suppliers
  • Community organization network
  • Chapter independence support

Training & Development

Dawah Workshops

Online and in-person workshops covering specific topics in the dawah landscape — from basic concepts to advanced objection handling and argumentation.

MDI Memos

Research-backed memos addressing trending questions and objections (prepared with Islamic scholars) — released to all chapters as free, up-to-date resources.

Leadership Training

Dedicated trainings for Chapter Coordinators to network, build brotherhood, and learn how to lead their MDI chapter effectively.

Social Media Seminars

A sisterhood of Social Media Managers across MDI chapters, trained in consistent, impactful dawah content creation and cross-chapter collaboration.

Digital Outreach

Social Media as Dawah

The dawah does not stop at the table. MDI chapters carry it into the digital world — building a unified, national presence that spreads the message of Islam far beyond any single campus.

A Prophetic Precedent

“The Prophet ﷺ wrote letters to the rulers of his time. He sent teachers to lands he himself could not reach. There is no doubt that if he were alive today, he would use social media to preach the message of Islam to as many people as possible.”

MDI sees this as both a permission and a responsibility.

A United National Front

One of the most powerful aspects of MDI is what happens when dozens of chapters post together. A coordinated, consistent dawah presence across campuses nationwide creates something no single account can — a movement. The MSA brand unites Muslim students socially; MDI aims to unite them in dawah.

Normalizing Dawah Culture

An active social media presence fosters a community built around dawah — normalizing it as a core part of Muslim campus life. When students across the country see their peers at the table, sharing conversations, and living this mission, it inspires them to do the same. That ripple effect is the vision.

What MDI Chapters Post

Keeping the feed active, engaging, and rooted in the mission.

📸

Tabling Stories

At minimum — document every tabling day. Stories, reels, behind-the-scenes. Let the world see dawah happening in real time.

💬

Conversations at the Table

Share meaningful exchanges — with permission. Real conversations humanize Islam and show the beauty of interfaith dialogue.

🎉

Table Activities

Hijab try-ons, trivia with prizes, calligraphy booths — document the fun. Engagement drives reach, reach drives dawah.

📖

Educational Content

Posts addressing common questions about Islam, myths, misconceptions. Build a page that educates as much as it invites.

🗳️

Interactive Polls

Get followers thinking. Islamic-themed polls build a two-way conversation and keep your audience engaged between tabling days.

🌐

National Campaigns

Coordinated posts across all MDI chapters — Ramadan, Islamic Awareness Week, Hijab Day — amplified as one unified voice.

One Focus. One Message.

MDI chapters keep their content anchored to dawah — avoiding politics, fiqh debates, and divisive topics. Not because these topics lack value, but because a scattered message dilutes the mission. By staying focused, MDI chapters build audiences that associate their page with one clear purpose: a beautiful, welcoming invitation to Islam. That clarity is what makes the united front powerful.

Chapter Structure

University Chapter Roles

Each MDI chapter follows a recommended structure. Chapters that already have a dawah effort are welcome to join MDI without strictly conforming to this structure, though it is highly encouraged.

🌿

Chapter Coordinator

Oversees all roles, makes executive decisions, leads team meetings, and acts as the liaison to the MDI umbrella organization.

  • Has led mixed, congregational prayers
  • Has dawah tabled at least 10 times
  • Has memorized the Quran (recommended)
  • Has led Taraweeh (recommended)
📋

Tabling Coordinator

Manages dawah tabling and new Muslim mentorship programs. Keeps inventory, reserves the dawah spot, ensures proper setup, coverage, and compliance with policies.

  • Maintains dawah table inventory
  • Coordinates daee' shift coverage
  • Manages new Muslim pairings
  • Oversees safety & compliance
📱

Social Media Manager

Oversees all social media posts, manages content production teams, ensures consistency in style and message, and collaborates with sisters across MDI chapters.

  • Approves all outgoing content
  • Ensures brand consistency
  • Follows MDI compliance policy
  • Cross-chapter collaboration
📊

Treasurer / Events

Tracks chapter funding and arranges any events — reserving rooms, catering, managing RSVPs, and ensuring the chapter has what it needs to operate.

  • Chapter budget tracking
  • Event logistics & room booking
  • RSVP & catering management
  • Fundraising coordination

Note: Starting a chapter does not require official university club registration. Chapters may partner with their campus MSA or operate independently. Interested in starting a chapter? Reach out to MDI.
